Montauk local Pete Moore has started Local Knit, a collection of tee shirts from ten local businesses he feels connects most with locals and visitors. To ensure that each of these shirts were unique and representative of the establishment, Pete got personal; working closely with each destination to form their own design.
The best part of the creative idea is that a portion of each sale goes right back to the owner of the given business!

Looks like the Ditch Witch is staying put! After more than 1,000 fans rallied in support, sending impassioned letters and emails, the Town has dumped the bids. The Ditch Witch and Beach Dog will produly serve Montauk another summer. Looks like we'll have to tweak those "Save the Ditch Witch" shirts... "Save the Ditch Witch - SAVED!"

The Ditch Witch is exactly the type of place that we love at Local Knit. A truly authentic business that helps define a community. We weren't sure what to do a few months ago when putting our initial Montauk collection together. We wanted to work with the iconic food truck, but it looked like the Ditch Witch's days were numbered. It's clear now what we must do. "SAVE THE DITCH WITCH!" Proceeds from our tee will help support Lili and her cause. We're working fast and will let you know as soon as it's ready...

The Harvest's sister restaurant, East by Northeast (51 Edgemere St., Montauk) is offering one of the best deals on the east end. Sunday through Friday until Memorial Day, customers can order from the "Locals Menu" which includes three courses for $15. The menu changes slightly each night and I've heard you won't be disappointed with the number of options to choose from. I think I know where I'm eating tonight...

Something about Gardiners Bay always makes me hungry for a Duryea's lobster roll and thirsty for a Montauket beer...

The restaurant at Westlake Marina, the Clam and Chowder House, is open for dinner Thursday through Sunday, and lunch Friday through Sunday. Stop by for ultra-fresh fish, Montauk's best sushi and an always interesting (and delicious) special board.

It was a long winter. So it's nice to finally see a little life at Ditch Plains. The surfs up, the fish have arrived, and the dreary landscape should soon turn green and white with blooming shad trees. While taking these pics a few days ago, I ran into a wet-suited surf fisherman in the east/third lot who hooked up with three schoolie stripers and a bluefish on a small white bucktail. Not bad for what has otherwise been a pretty quiet spring when it comes to finding fish in the surf.
Granted it's a little chilly when the wind blows, but I think it's still worth heading to Ditch for a few pre-season waves or a little sun. Before we know it, the summer will be in full swing, all three lots will be packed, and prime beach towel space will be hard to come by.

Hot off the silk-screen presses is an adorable collection of hyperlocal t-shirts featuring some favorite Montauk haunts. Company founder Pete Moore recalls the summers of his youth there fondly and selected the places he says "best represent what Montauk is all about." But where's the love for The Hideaway, the Mexican restaurant on West Lake Drive with the best sopas ever? Hopefully this glaring omission will be corrected soon.
